I have been planning to go to one of the PYO farms for ages and ages. I imagined an infinite supply of strawberries and cherries partially in my basket and partially in my belly. So finally this morning we set off for Garsons Farm in Esher to pick some asparagus, it’s the first crop on the farm. Next week the strawberries start followed by all other berries and veg you can only dream of. I actually saw the cherry orchard and cannot wait, I find market or supermarket cherries to be the most disappointing fruit ever.
The farm has got a large gardening section and a farm shop where we purchased some strawberries, eggs and cut lupins. I can only imagine how nice and pretty it will be to go there on a sunny day to collect fruit (asparagus fields are not picturesque at all!).
I will make sure that I get my own asparagus crowns next year, it was the freshest, sweetest, most delicious asparagus I have ever had especially when served with home made hollandaise.
