Fed up with my local farmers market and its lack of decent organic fruit and veg I decided it was time to go back to Abel&Cole.
I used to be with A&C for a while and stopped ordering about 3 years ago. The Clapham farmers market used to be great: multiple stalls with vegetables, great Welsh goat’s cheese, wonderful bread and pastries. But they started to go, one by one, leaving a skeleton of a market behind.
Last year I tried Gregg Wallace’s veg box and it was amazing but I could not be bothered to go to the post office with the big box so it stopped.
I love my Friday morning delivery of fresh fruit and veg from local farms, I add cheese, eggs, jams and other bits to my order. Everything tastes so different, apples are juicy and sweet, pears are beautifully yellow with pink blush, rocket is peppery and beetroots so sweet and crunchy you can eat them raw in a salad.
It makes me more creative too, I hate wasting food so I am inventing dishes, every night is like Ready Steady Cook.
I am getting very impatient for all the spring delights to come.
