A string of unintentional events

None of this detox palaver was planned and I didn’t set myself any goals but somehow I am getting sucked more and more into it and I really enjoy it.

As mentioned yesterday I discovered the big cleanse through My New Roots, Sarah is an amazing nutritionist and her blog bursts with deliciousness like this hot chocolate or this pea soup.

I had a proper scan through the Whole Living Action Plan so it only made sense that the wonderful hot detoxing drink made it to my menu, I had about three so far today. It just makes you feel good and the taste is not bad either, like a spicy ginger drink with a hint of sweetness.

Here are the ingredients which just get mixed together:

1 cup of hot water

1 tbsp lemon juice

1/8 tsp ground ginger which I didn’t have so replaced it with a thumb sized piece of fresh ginger

1/8 tsp tumeric

honey, perhaps swapping honey for maple syrup would be even better

cayenne

I will probably incorporate more and more recipes from the cleanse but I don’t want to commit to anything yet, I still like cheese and milky coffee.

Thanks for the fantastic blog link Aga! The recipes look super: nutritious but tasty. Perfect! Will have to try this detox drink too. M x

Sounds interesting – I’l have to give it a try. Have been drinking similar things but in different combinations. Some mornings I’ve been remembering to drink slices of ginger and lemon in hot water (I prep slices of each and freeze in a tupperware so they keep and are ready when needed). I’ve also found that a teaspoon each of turmeric and honey in hot milk is nice before bed.

This detox was wildly popular over here in the states a few years ago, only it was imbibed cold. Lemon juice, syrup, ginger, cayenne, and you don’t eat anything other than that for a week. Actually, explaining it that way makes it sound like a starvation diet, which it totally was. I think even Beyonce used it to lose a ton of weight at some point. And you do drop pounds immediately, but I’m pretty sure it’s all water weight. In moderation I’m sure it’s better for its detox properties! Good luck!

Oldfashionedgirls: Did you have a go yet Miranda?

Jessica, that sounds lovely and so appropriate before bed ;)

Erin, It really reminded me of the Beyonce diet and tried it for one day ha ha ha. But yes, it’s all goodness.
