On our holiday we spent a morning at Camber Sands, buried in sand dunes in hot sun, splashing in warm sea it was a few hours of bliss.
While Freddie dragged Daddy up and down the beach I succumbed in Mapp and Lucia which is a very very enjoyable and funny read and I will be definitely reading the rest of the books soon. The action takes place in a place called Tilling which is based on Rye, and off to Rye we went for lunch (disappointing) and a stroll (delightful). We have been to Rye before and it is a charming place but we were extremely unlucky with our lunch and tea places. Why did I ignore all the signs to The Gallivant?!
On the other hand the place is a small antique heaven, everywhere I looked there were antique places or charity shops full to the brim with amazing stuff.
This shop was amazing. A beautiful selection of vintage English homewares and furniture. I had to be pulled out of there, there were tiny old terracotta pots in the window and they had my name on them!
Unfortunately we didn’t manage to visit Lamb House where Henry James and EF Benson lived. Mapp’s home, Mallards, is based on this house however the famous garden room has been destroyed during the II World War.
