Anniversary at Petersham

I realise the blog is a bit gardening heavy these days but I promise next time there will be a bit of culture.

Last week we celebrated our 8th wedding anniversary at Petersham Nurseries Cafe. The booking was done exactly one month in advance and we were lucky to have a beautiful day which meant all the tables were outside.

The food was delicious but the starters were way more exciting than the main courses. I had courgette, mozzarella and raw artichoke salad, hubby had smoked haddock with pea shoots and chillies.

For the main course I went for monkfish curry and M had beef with rainbow chard (a rather large piece of meat!).

All was washed down with a bottle of prosecco – this was not appreciated by our son who was stuck with a bottle, after a mini tantrum we decided to move to the tea house for coffee and cakes. Sadly we missed the very exciting looking cherry and orange blossom ice cream.

We had a look through the shop, lots of sweet peas and dahlias. We ended up bringing two dahlia plants and a bay leaf tree home. I have some sweet peas in our garden but they are still small.

The dahlia extravaganza.

The carts are always full of inspiration.

Sweet peas.

Alliums and other beauties.

Nice table settings – I am still looking for some sitting arrangement for our garden.

My yellow shoes attracted a lot of  midges.

And the bug enjoyed a gourmet meal of butternut squash.

Happy Anniversary! Ours is next week but I haven’t arranged anything so exciting–must be more organized next year. And I (like the midges) love your shoes! Hi to Freddie! K x

That looks fantastic…I love those table settings! I find that is so often the case about starters being more exciting than mains. I’ve gotten to the point where I’m ordering one starter to start and one starter for my main. Happy anniversary and enjoy the bay tree (I love the one I have in my window, I use the leaves constantly)!
